Guy Duchesne Maquette by kidoho Guy Duchesne Maquette by kidoho
Don't get the chance to do much personal artwork anymore.... hence the lack of consistent posts. Then again, this isn't exactly personal work either. But on the flip side, I'm not under NDA, so....

Guy Duchesne Maquette by ~kidoho is quite unique compared with a lot of sculpture work I have come across recently, the design and detail is simplistic but not without a great deal of skill (just look at the lines of the eyes and face and the shirt detail around the neck). From suggestor: "I was really captivated by the smooth texture and clean lines, and also by the cool design and funny, yet serious expression of the figure." Wow, I just can't believe how smooth the texture is. The style is really neat, too.

I've just started getting into sculpture, myself, so I'm always fascinated to see other more experienced artists' work.

Super sculpey, and my patented sculpting technique. Seriously, I hold a copyright.

jk, when sculpting I'm very careful about keeping the clay smooth, using water to lubricate my fingers. Afterward baking I sanded it with varying grits of sandpaper - working from rough to fine. Then topped it off with a polishing pass of steelwool and a soft toothbrush

Try picking up a box of Super Sculpey next time you hit up the art store - I prefer it to Sculpey III, personally.

I actually saw some super sculpy....but you have to paint it, don't you? I like using the III cause I can get the colors I need and such, but at the same time, how well does super sculpy hold up?
